A month before the 1988 Oscars, the 48 Hours team looked at Hollywood, interviewing struggling waitresses/actresses, successful producers, and tourists visiting the City of Angels. The program, in the words of TV critic Terry Atkinson for the Los Angeles Times, was "fast, slick and superficial. But it's also accurate and balanced in its kaleidoscopic way, and for people who never tire of behind-the-scenes glimpses at the dream factory, it's fun."
